Lesson 2 - Forehand – description
Continuous forehand drive play with a coach is an exciting and valuable training method for beginner kids in table tennis. This activity allows kids to practice their forehand drive technique in a dynamic and supportive environment with the guidance of a coach. During continuous forehand drive play, kids will stand in a ready position with their feet shoulder-width apart, knees slightly bent, and racket held comfortably in their hand. The coach will feed the ball to their forehand side, and the kids' goal is to hit the ball back with a forehand drive stroke. Kids should focus on timing and footwork, moving their feet to get into the best position to hit the ball.
They should use a smooth and controlled swing, keeping their eye on the ball and aiming to make contact in the middle of the racket. The coach will provide feedback and guidance, helping kids improve their technique, shot placement, and consistency. They may encourage kids to adjust their grip, body positioning, or follow-through to optimize their forehand drive. The continuous play allows kids to develop their hand-eye coordination, timing, and shot control.
They will learn to adjust their power and spin based on the speed and trajectory of the incoming balls. This activity also helps kids develop their reflexes and anticipation skills. As kids gain more confidence and consistency, the coach can gradually increase the pace and intensity of the shots.
This will challenge kids to react quickly and make split-second decisions during the game-like situations. Continuous forehand drive play with a coach provides an excellent opportunity for kids to practice their forehand drive stroke in a realistic and interactive setting. It helps them develop the necessary skills and muscle memory to use the forehand drive effectively during matches. Encourage kids to have fun and enjoy the training sessions. Remind them to listen to their coach's instructions and be open to feedback, as it will help them improve their technique and overall game. Through consistent practice and dedication, kids will become more proficient in their forehand drive and gain confidence on the table tennis court.
